Middle East Conflict Hits Indian Consumers As Petrol, Diesel Prices Take BIG Hike

New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and a rise in crude oil prices, the price of premium petrol in India has been increased. Premium petrol prices have seen a hike ranging from ₹2 to ₹2.30. There has been no change in the price of regular petrol.

When will the revised prices will come into effect?

The revised prices will come into effect starting today, March 20. The prices of branded fuels—such as HPCL's 'Power Petrol' and IOCL's 'XP95'—have been raised. Premium petrol is typically used to ensure superior engine performance and better mileage.

HPCL, BPCL, and IOCL have all increased the prices of petrol and diesel. Following this hike, the price of premium petrol in New Delhi will range from ₹107 to ₹112.30 per liter. In Mumbai, it will range from ₹115 to ₹120.30 per liter, and in Chennai, from ₹112 to ₹117.30 per liter.

Any Changes in Regular Petrol and Diesel Prices?

There has been no change in the prices of regular petrol and diesel. In New Delhi, the price of one liter of petrol stands at ₹94.77, while diesel is priced at ₹87.67 per liter. In Mumbai, one liter of petrol costs ₹103.50, and diesel is priced at ₹90.03. Similarly, in Chennai, the price of one liter of petrol is ₹100.80, and diesel is priced at ₹92.39 per liter.

What is Premium Petrol, and Where is it Available?

This is a type of petrol characterized by a higher octane number. Typically, this number is 95 or higher, whereas regular petrol has an octane number of 91. Premium petrol enables vehicle engines to run more smoothly and deliver superior performance. It is available at almost every petrol pump in major cities and is used in sports bikes, cars, vehicles with turbo engines, and high-performance cars.
